For me his most memorable performance was as the washed-up real estate salesman Shelley "The Machine" Levene in Glengarry, Glen Ross.

My favourite movie was"The Apartment". I recall the movie scene when his wife calls the doctor to book an urgent appointment for her husband, played by Jack, and she is dismayed when told an appointment is available no earlier the next week and she replies into the phone, "...next week?!!!...he needs a doctor TODAY..!!!"
