@Duff - If you remember stations signing off, they you do remember "those days.
In the mid-70's one of the stations in Green Bay, WI started a show that they called TJ and the ANT (stood for television jockey and the All Night Theater) where they played movies ALL night on Friday. Later they gradually having it more days per week.
Well, I don't remember those days, but when I was a kid in the 1950s, most stations signed off at midnight or 1:00 a.m. Some still did this well into the 1970s.
