I'm old enough to remember when TV stations here in SoCal went off the air at promptly 1:00 A.M.

K--- now ends its broadcast day. Owned and operated by ----------, K--- is licenced to serve ------- with a transmitter located high atop -----. Please join us when we return to the air at 5:30 AM for the semonette by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, by transcription. We now close with the Central Consolidated High School band playing the national anthem, also by transcription. Until we return to the air, this is your announcer bidding you a pleasant good night.

@Duff - If you remember stations signing off, they you do remember "those days.

In the mid-70's one of the stations in Green Bay, WI started a show that they called TJ and the ANT (stood for television jockey and the All Night Theater) where they played movies ALL night on Friday. Later they gradually having it more days per week.

Well, I don't remember those days, but when I was a kid in the 1950s, most stations signed off at midnight or 1:00 a.m. Some still did this well into the 1970s.
