I still use a TRS-80 to run a 1981 Dahlgren System One engraving system. It originally had an incredible 4K RAM loaded by 2 cassette tapes (later upgraded to 5-1/4" disk).

@tommie - I forgot all about the magazine (must be old age). I spent many hours typing in the programs and many many more trying to find my typing error before it would work. I finally broke down and bought the disk drive. That was a big and heavy beast but then I wasn't limited to "Serial" but could take advantage of random access in my programs.

In 1984, I bought a Texas Instruments TI-99 4/A computer for $150.00--with a $100.00 rebate attached. And found out afterwards that TI was getting out of the computer business. Worst thing I ever bought.
