I remember departing walking my Grandma to her seat on the plane (through the rear tail door of the plane) and the announcement basically - "anybody not flying, time to get off" and that was 1971, the last time I saw her before she died in '72. They also had a great outdoor observation deck where you could watch planes arrive and depart - it had a 10 cent turnstile, And of course meeting arrivals at the gate. Not so friendly skies anymore for sure, it stinks.
