Trimline telephones
Introduced in 1965
In order to reduce the size of the rotary dial, the designers removed the space between the digit 1 and the finger stop and had the finger stop move the required distance instead. Many users were not even aware that it moved in this manner.
A Touch-Tone model was added in 1966.
