Expectant fathers, stereotypically, would chain smoke while pacing back and forth outside the delivery room, and hand out cigars to announce the new arrival. Since the gender of the baby wasn't known until its birth, did they have to a both "It's a boy!" and "It's a girl!" varieties stashed away?
